Nyumba ya Mbuyu ( Baobab house in swahili) is an exclusive boutique hotel realized in a luxury villa recently renovated. The villa is located amid a tropical garden of more than an acre and offers a swimming pool and a wide range of services for the guests. In the garden you can find a centuries-old Baobab from which the villa takes its name. The Nyumba ya Mbuyu’s Villa is located in the quite and green residential area of Casuarina at the end of Tamarind road, on the corner between Neem Road and Pamba Road. The villa is only 500 meters away from the beautiful Silversand beach which is adorned by palms and protected by a coral reef. The tides , changing during the day, give to the seascape charming colours changings .In a few minutes you can also reach the well-organized Rosada Beach and White Elephant beach as well as the Malindi Marine National Park. The historical town center is just 2 Km away while the Malindi Golf & Country Club is only 5 Km away.

Our rooms

The Nyumba ya Mbuyu’s Villa has 6 bedrooms of 25 - 32 sqm ; 4 rooms are located in the main building and 2 in the dependance and fitted out with a wide private living facing the swimming pool.
5 rooms are equipped with a king size double bed of 200 x 200 cm. and the two in the dependance are additionally furnished with a large sofa bed. One of the room in the main building is furnished with two single beds of 110 x 200 cm.
All rooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fan. All rooms have private bathroom, a coffee table, a large closet / wardrobe, a safe and a mini fridge. Each bathroom is equipped with shower, shower mat, bidet, hair-dryer, towels, bathrobes, slippers, towels for the pool and the beach and complimentary toiletries.

CANCELLATIONS AND NO-SHOWS
All bookings are considered confirmed upon payment of 50% of the invoice amount. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to:info@nyumbayambuyu.com or giannimaitan@gmail.com
1. Cancellation up to 30 days before arrival: full refund of the amount paid.
2. Cancellation between 29 and 15 days before arrival: penalty equal to 30% of the invoice value.
3. Cancellation between 14 and 3 days before arrival: penalty equal to 50% of the invoice value.
4. Cancellation less than 2 days before arrival (including no-shows): penalty equal to 100% of the invoice value.

Story of a great passion

The villa

Nyumba ya Mbuyu Villa (“the home of the Baobab” in Swahili) was born from Gianni Maitan's passion for nature and photography, a passion that led him to visit many parks and natural reserves in 13 African countries, seeking out spectacular images of wild animals in their natural habitat. Since his first trip to Kenya in 1983 he was engulfed by "mal d'Africa" and since then has dreamt of living in Africa. Finally, during Christmas 2013 he took the plunge and decided to run a luxury holiday home in Malindi, Kenya. From all the African countries, Gianni chose Kenya because of the myriad of parks populated by many wonderful species of animals, the mild-climate and the variety of landscapes. Crystal clear seas and endless savannahs make Malindi the perfect starting point of an unforgettable African experience. Malindi also hosts an international airport (MYD) and in a few minutes you can be strolling along it's beautiful white sandy beaches.

Gianni Maitan

Gianni Maitan is an engineer and entrepreneur who has dedicated himself to nature photography for many years. His photographs have been published in many books and magazines and have been exhibited in numerous personal and collective photographic exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
With the Editorial Giorgio Mondadori he published, in December 2004, the photographic book "African Parks". He was co-author of the "Guide to travel: Kenya" published in October 2005 by the Polaris Publishing House. With Sassi Editore in April 2009 he published the book "Wonderful African Parks" and in May 2015 the book "Moving" entirely in black and white..He achieved many first prizes in prestigious national and international competitions. In addition, he was judge in juries of national and international photo competitions With the Italian team of Naturalistic Photography, from 1999 to 2012 he was the winner of 8 world cups and 2 gold medals in the world championships "Biennali Natura FIAP". He was also a judge in juries of national and international photographic competitions
